Putting it all into perspective.Posted: August 6, 2012
This was going to be a post about the latest supermodel-birthing-expert, the latest lady to stick her beautiful head above the parapet and preach that we should all try to be more like her. That we should all go drug-free, natural, labour at home (incidentally, Gisele, I did and that’s exactly where our similarities begin and end…) Both her and Miranda Kerr love to tell us how we should give birth, what’s best for babies and how easy and amazing breastfeeding is. That birth is the most beautiful and life-changing experience, blah blah. You can bet that most women would like to stab them in the back of the head with a Louboutin.
Anyway, I’m not going to bother with any of that now because I have just seen the very sad news about one of my favourite people and his lovely wife, who have lost their baby due to stillbirth. I can only imagine this utterly appalling experience. I am so sorry for them.
We can all waffle on about how you should give birth and that what-I did-was-better-than-you. But ultimately, all any of us want is a healthy happy baby, however they arrive. The rest is just trivial.
Thoughts with Gary Barlow and his family.
